Muhammad ibn Munkadir, also known as Ibn al-Munkadir or Muhammad al-Taymi, was a notable Tabi'i and Qur'an reciter who lived during the early Islamic era. He was the son of an Arab father and an umm walad, indicating his mother was a slave concubine. He studied under prominent Sahaba such as Jâbir Ibn Abd Allah, Anas Ibn Malik, and Orwa Ibn az-Zubair. Ibn al-Munkadir was renowned for transmitting numerous hadiths with great reliability. Among his pupils were significant Islamic scholars including Imam Malik, Shôba, ath-Thauri, Ibn Oyaina, and Ibn Juraij. He died in 747 CE. His role as a transmitter and teacher contributed to the preservation and dissemination of Islamic knowledge in Kufa.
