The Twelve Islamic Months
First month of the Islamic year. One of the four sacred months.
Second month. Name means "void" — the Arabs left homes to seek food.
Third month. Traditionally recognised as the birth month of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Fourth month, also called Rabī' al-Ākhir.
Fifth month. Name refers to dry or parched land.
Sixth month, also called Jumādā al-Ākhirah.
Seventh month. One of the four sacred months. The Night Journey (Isrā' wal-Mi'rāj).
Eighth month. The month before Ramadan — a time of increased worship.
Ninth month. The month of fasting, the Quran was first revealed in this month.
Tenth month. Eid al-Fitr falls on its first day.
Eleventh month. One of the four sacred months.
Twelfth month. The month of Hajj. Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th.
