Ubaydah ibn al-Harith was a cousin and companion of the Prophet Muhammad, known for leading the first military expedition in Islam and being the first Muslim martyred in battle.

Ubaydah ibn al-Harith belonged to the Quraysh tribe and was a first cousin of the Prophet Muhammad through his father al-Harith ibn Abd al-Muttalib. He embraced Islam early, before 614 CE, and participated in the Hijra to Medina in 622 CE. Ubaydah commanded a military expedition to the valley of Rabigh, where the first arrow in Islam was shot, marking a significant moment in early Islamic military history. He was killed in the Battle of Badr in 624 CE during a triple combat, becoming the first Muslim to be wounded and later martyred in that battle. His widow, Zaynab bint Khuzayma, later married Muhammad. Ubaydah is remembered for his bravery and early commitment to Islam.
