He authored major works including the Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, one of the earliest and largest hadith compilations. He studied under notable scholars such as Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah and 'Abd Allah ibn Al-Mubarak, and taught eminent hadith masters like Al-Bukhari and Muslim. He was highly regarded for his precision, memorisation, and reliability in narration. Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah died in 235H (849 CE) at the age of 76.
