Banū al-Najjār
Sub-tribe of al-Khazraj in Medina. Salmā bint ʿAmr, the wife of Hāshim ibn ʿAbd Manāf and mother of ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, was from this tribe — establishing a maternal Medinan link in the Prophet's ﷺ direct lineage.

Mu'adh ibn Jabal was a prominent companion of the Prophet Muhammad, known for his knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence and hadith, and served as a governor and teacher in Yemen.
Wife of Hāshim ibn ʿAbd Manāf and mother of ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib (= Shayba). She was from the Banū al-Najjār of Yathrib (Medina) — a sub-tribe of al-Khazraj. Hāshim met her on a trade journey, married her, and she gave birth to Shayba in Yathrib c. 497 CE. After Hāshim died in Gaza, Shayba lived with her in Yathrib until his uncle al-Muṭṭalib came and brought him to Mecca. This Medinan maternal link is why the Prophet ﷺ later said of his arrival in Medina (the Hijra): "Among the people of Yathrib are my maternal uncles" — referring to the Banū al-Najjār.
