Tenth wife of the Prophet ﷺ. Daughter of Ḥuyayy ibn Akhṭab, chief of Banū al-Naḍīr (a Jewish tribe of Medina). Captured at Khaybar (7 AH / 628 CE). The Prophet ﷺ offered her either freedom to return to her people or marriage and Islam; she chose the latter. According to tradition she was a descendant of Prophet Hārūn (Aaron). When other wives reportedly mocked her for her Jewish origin the Prophet ﷺ said: "How can you be better than her? She is the daughter of a prophet [Hārūn], niece of a prophet [Mūsā], and wife of a prophet [Muhammad]."
