Eighth wife of the Prophet ﷺ. Daughter of al-Ḥārith ibn Abī Ḍirār, chief of Banū al-Muṣṭaliq. Captured at the Battle of al-Muraysīʿ (5 AH / 627 CE). The Prophet ﷺ paid her ransom and married her, after which the Muslims released their other Banū al-Muṣṭaliq captives "because they are now relatives of the Prophet by marriage" — leading to the conversion of the entire tribe. ʿĀʾisha said: "I do not know any woman who was a greater blessing to her people than Juwayriya."
