Imran ibn Husayn
Abu Talib ibn Abd al-Muttalib was the leader of the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca and the uncle and protector of the Prophet Muhammad. He is remembered for his unwavering support of Muhammad during the early years of Islam despite not converting himself according to Sunni tradition.
Abu Talib ibn Abd al-Muttalib was born around 535 CE in Mecca and belonged to the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe. He became the tribal chief after his father's death and was responsible for the Siqaya and Rifada duties during the Hajj pilgrimage. Abu Talib is best known for his protection and support of his nephew, the Prophet Muhammad, during the early years of Islam when Muhammad faced hostility from other Quraysh leaders. Despite pressures and offers of bribes, Abu Talib defended Muhammad and sheltered the Banu Hashim during a harsh economic boycott. He died around 619 CE, a year known as the Year of Sorrow for Muhammad due to the loss of both Abu Talib and his wife Khadijah. Sunni tradition holds that Abu Talib did not embrace Islam before his death, while Shia tradition regards him as a secret believer.
