Ḥafṣ ibn ʿĀṣim
Ḥafṣ ibn ʿĀṣim was a trustworthy tabiʿi narrator known for his precise transmission of hadith and was the son of Asim ibn Umar, a notable hadith scholar and son of Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab.
Ḥafṣ ibn ʿĀṣim belonged to the Quraysh tribe through his grandfather Umar ibn al-Khattab, the second Rashidun caliph. He lived during the early Islamic era, specifically the Tabi‘in generation, following the companions of the Prophet Muhammad. As a hadith narrator, he was respected for his reliability and precision in transmitting prophetic traditions. He was the son of Asim ibn Umar, a prominent hadith scholar and grandson of Umar ibn al-Khattab. Ḥafṣ died in 106 AH during the Umayyad period. His narrations are included in major hadith collections such as Sahih al-Bukhari. He contributed to preserving Islamic knowledge in the formative years after the Prophet's companions.
