Ādam ibn Abī ʾIyās was a trustworthy third-generation hadith narrator known for compiling the earliest surviving recension of Tafsir Mujahid.

Ādam ibn Abī ʾIyās lived during the early Islamic era and belonged to the third generation of hadith transmitters (Tābiʿ al-Tābiʿīn). He is notable for compiling the earliest surviving recension of the Qur'anic exegesis attributed to Mujāhid ibn Jabr, an important early Islamic scholar and Tabiʿ. Although Ādam's original collection does not survive, later recensions based on his work have been preserved. His role as a reliable transmitter helped preserve key Islamic scholarly traditions. Details about his tribe, family, and exact dates of birth and death remain unclear. He died around 836–837 CE. Ādam ibn Abī ʾIyās is remembered primarily for his contribution to the transmission of tafsir literature.
