Abu Umamah al-Bahili
Abu Umamah · al-Bahili
Abu Umamah al-Bahili was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad known for his piety and narrations of hadith, who participated in early Islamic battles and settled in Syria.
Abu Umamah al-Bahili belonged to the Bāhila tribe, descending from the Qays tribal confederation. His personal name was Ṣadiy, and he was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad. He is reported to have fought in the Battle of Uhud, although some narrations about this are considered weak. Abu Umamah also fought alongside Ali in the Battle of Siffin during the First Fitna. He resided in Homs, in the Bilad al-Sham region, where he eventually died in either 81 or 86 AH. There is some disagreement about whether he lived in Egypt before settling in Syria. He was known as the last companion to die in Syria.
