Abu Ubayda ibn al-Jarrah was a prominent companion of Prophet Muhammad, a trusted military commander during the early Muslim conquests, and a governor of Syria under Caliph Umar. He was known for his bravery, modesty, and leadership, and was one of the ten companions promised Paradise. He died in 639 during the Plague of Amwas.
