حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جُنْدُبِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ الْبَجَلِيِّ، قَالَ‏:‏ أَصَابَ حَجَرٌ أُصْبُعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَدَمِيَتْ، فَقَالَ‏:‏ هَلْ أَنْتِ إِلا أُصْبُعٌ دَمِيتِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ مَا لَقِيتِ‏.‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جُنْدُبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ، نَحْوَهُ‏.‏‏

“A stone hit the finger of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace), causing it to bleed, so he said : 'Are you nothing but a finger that has bled without having suffered in Allah’s cause?'”
