Musnad `Umar b. al-Khattab (ra)· مُسْنَدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
musnad_ahmad:317حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، قَالَ لَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بُكِيَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ.
When Abu Bakr died, people wept for him. `Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `The deceased is tormented because of the weeping of the living.”
