mishkat_al_masabih:4187وَعَن عِكْرِمَة قَالَ: رأيتُ ابنَ عَبَّاس يَأْتَزِرُ فَيَضَعُ حَاشِيَةَ إِزَارِهِ مِنْ مُقَدَّمِهِ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَدَمِهِ وَيَرْفَعُ مِنْ مُؤَخَّرِهِ قُلْتُ لِمَ تَأْتَزِرُ هَذِهِ الْإِزْرَةَ؟ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يأتزرها. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
‘Ikrima told that when he saw Ibn ‘Abbas putting on a lower garment, letting the hem in front fall on the top of his foot and raising it behind, he asked why he did it that way and he replied that that was how he had seen God’s messenger do it. Abu Dawud transmitted it.
