mishkat_al_masabih:4186وَعَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ خُيَلَاءَ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ» . فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِزَارِي يَسْتَرْخِي إِلَّا أَنْ أَتَعَاهَدَهُ. فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّكَ لَسْتَ مِمَّنْ يَفْعَلُهُ خُيَلَاءَ» . رَوَاهُ البُخَارِيّ
He reported the Prophet as saying, “On the day of resurrection God will not look at him who trails his garment arrogantly.” Abu Bakr then said, “Messenger of God, my lower garment hangs down unless I keep paying attention to it,” to which God’s messenger replied, “You are not one of those who do it arrogantly.” Bukhari transmitted it.
